About Google outages

Google Search almost never goes down completely. If it isn't loading, the problem is far more often your internet connection or DNS settings.

Tip: If Google won't load but other sites do, restart your router; if nothing loads, your internet connection is down.

Google is up, but it won't work for me. What now?

  1. Refresh hard. Press Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) to skip your browser's cache.
  2. Try another network. Switch your phone from Wi-Fi to mobile data. If it loads, your home network or internet provider is the issue.
  3. Restart your router. Unplug it for 30 seconds. This clears a lot of connection glitches.
  4. Turn off VPNs and ad blockers for a moment. Some sites block them.
  5. Update or reinstall the app if it's only the app that won't work.
